Founder and CEO

David was born and raised in West Plains, Missouri, graduating from West Plains High School in 1967. He then attended Missouri State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. Following his graduation from college, David worked for Venture Stores in Springfield and then moved back to West Plains to work as an accountant for Paul Schwegman, CPA. In 1977, David made a career move that would ultimately determine the course of his professional life - he took a position with Southern Missouri Oil Company/Energy Sales as General Manager. After four years, David was able to purchase the company's assets, marketing, and transportation operations. He renamed the new company Coastal Energy, and the rest, as they say, is history. 

David and his wife, Brenda, relocated to Willow Springs along with the company in 1987. They have one son, Erik, and his wife Katie, along with two granddaughters. In his free time, David loves being outside and working with the cows and horses on his farm.

Fuel Marketing Corporation, Coastal Energy Corporation, and FMC Transport

Erik was born and raised in Willow springs, graduating from Willow Springs High School in 1996.  Following high School, Erik attended Missouri State University in West Plains, MO and then in Springfield, MO graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship in 2000.  Upon graduation, Erik returned home to join Coastal Energy, working in Dispatch/Logistics from 2000 to 2003.  He then moved to Operations for all aspects of the company including Coastal Energy, FMC Transport, Fuel Marketing Corp., and United Distributing Company.  Erik has worked in all aspects of the business and enjoys the challenge each new day brings.  Currently, Erik serves as President of Coastal Energy Corp., FMC Transport, Inc; Fuel Marketing Corp., and United Distributing Company.  

Erik is a former member of the Missouri State University – West Plains Development Board and  the Willow Springs Rotary Club.  He is a past board member and current member of the Willow Springs Chamber of Commerce.  Erik currently serves as vice chair of the City of Willow Springs Tax Increment Finance Commission and Secretary of the Willow Springs Public Safety Council.  He also serves on the Career and Technical Education Oversight Committee in Willow Springs while also serving on the State CTE Advisory Committee Council. 

Erik and his wife, Katie make their home on the family farm outside Willow Springs, MO.  Erik, Katie, and their two daughters attend Crossway Fellowship Church and work consistently with many local charities. When Erik isn't at work, he enjoys spending time outside around the house and farm. He also collects classic cars and baseball memorabilia to balance out all the pink, glittery things that come with living in a house full of three women!

Operations Manager

Shane has been with Coastal Energy since 2013, serving in a variety of roles including Logistics, Sales, Project Management, and Operations Management. Shane has extensive management experience, having worked as a Store Manager for Town & Country Supermarkets from 2001 to 2013, when he joined the Coastal Energy team. He also served as the Operations Manager for the Southwest Missouri Humane Society from 1995 to 2001. 

Shane attended Missouri State University in Springfield along with Drury University, studying Business Administration. 

Shane and his wife, Sabrina, have two children, Jackson and Peyton. In addition to his work, Shane operates a beef farming operation and enjoys woodworking, metalworking, car restoration, and most importantly, time spent with his family camping and enjoying nature. 

Fleet Operations Manager

Joe joined Coastal Energy and FMC Transport in 2015, after 10 years with Fabick Caterpillar, first as a Truck/Engine Technician and then as Truck Shop Service Supervisor. Joe was born and raised in Marshfield, Missouri, attending Marshfield High School. He went on to attend Ozark Technical College's Diesel

Technology program. 

Joe holds many certifications, including: OTC Diesel Technologies, Freightliner Certified, Caterpillar Certified on highway truck engines and various other Caterpillar equipment certifications and training courses, Caterpillar Business Tools for Service Managers, Heavy Duty Brake Certified, Horton Certified, plus assorted leadership and management training courses over the last several years. Joe puts his extensive experience to work managing the Willow Springs Shop facility, overseeing equipment maintenance company-wide, and maintaining relationships with vendors,

dealers, and suppliers. 

​Joe and his wife, Kim, have two children - Tyler and Haley. Joe loves spending time with his family and friends, working around his farm, and spending time outdoors hunting and hiking. 

Accounting and Benefits Management

Philip joined Coastal Energy in 2019, bringing a wealth of accounting experience to our management team. He earned a degree in accounting from Harding University, and then began his career in Tennessee. Philip has worked as a Controller/CFO for 25 years, the last 18 of which were spent in Willow Springs. 

Philip and his Gayle are the proud parents of 3 children, Cole and wife Amber, Cory and fiancé Trinity, and Chole and husband Dakota. They also have 2 grandchildren, Callahan and Dawson. In his spare time, Philip enjoys spending quality time with his family and participating in any kind of outdoor sports.
